The Immigration Management Division of Khanh Hoa Provincial Police (Phòng Quản lý Xuất nhập cảnh) announced that it would receive applications in person at 47 Ly Tu Trong, Nha Trang. The address is in the new Nha Trang Ward.
Show the address to your driver, and confirm it before you travel. The announcement is dated 27/06/2025 and covers the days when the national public services were being adjusted.
Which case are you?
- You have a sponsor (an organisation registered with the office, or a close Vietnamese relative): the sponsor files your extension at the division or online. The fee is US$10 and the decision takes no more than 5 working days from a complete dossier.
- You have no sponsor: the law gives no self-filing route. A new entry is the other way: see the visa run guide and the e-visa guide.
- You plan to go on a Saturday: extension papers are received on Saturday morning, but results are returned Monday to Friday only.
- You only need to declare where you sleep: commune-level police take that declaration, not this division.
- You have overstayed: go to the Immigration Management Office of the police where you stay.
Address and how to get there
The division’s head office is at 47 Ly Tu Trong. The Ministry of Public Security’s own support list, dated 11/07/2023, gives the same street number for the Khanh Hoa division. No official page found gives a different address. The Ly Tu Trong address sits in what used to be Loc Tho ward, one of five wards merged into the single Nha Trang Ward by Resolution 1667/NQ-UBTVQH15.
Do not confuse the division with the provincial police headquarters. The footer of the Khanh Hoa Provincial Police web portal gives 80 Tran Phu, Nha Trang as the address of the police itself. The same footer lists the telephone number (+84).0694.401468. That is the portal’s general number, not a counter line for foreigners.

Hours
Hours depend on the procedure, so check which one you need.
- Temporary stay extension, applications received: Monday to Saturday morning each week, except Tet and public holidays.
- Temporary stay extension, results returned: Monday to Friday each week, except Tet and public holidays.
- In-person filing for an extension is during office hours on working days. Saturday morning is a reception time on the national page, so ask your sponsor to confirm Saturday before going.
What the division handles
On the Khanh Hoa police service list, the body that carries out the immigration procedures is the Immigration Management Division, called “the division” below. The list includes these procedures:
- Issuing visas to foreigners in Vietnam.
- Issuing temporary residence cards to foreigners in Vietnam at provincial police.
- Extending temporary stay for foreigners in Vietnam.
Declaring temporary residence is different. The list gives commune-level police as the executing body for it, not the provincial immigration division. See temporary residence registration in Nha Trang for that step.

Your sponsor files, not you
For an extension, the law puts the filing on the sponsor.
Người nước ngoài đang tạm trú tại Việt Nam có nhu cầu gia hạn tạm trú phải đề nghị cơ quan, tổ chức, cá nhân mời, bảo lãnh làm thủ tục tại cơ quan quản lý xuất nhập cảnh hoặc cơ quan có thẩm quyền của Bộ Ngoại giao.
A foreigner staying in Vietnam who wants to extend their stay must ask the inviting or sponsoring agency, organisation or individual to carry out the procedure at the immigration authority or the competent agency of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Law 47/2014/QH13, Điều 35 khoản 1
If the sponsor is a Vietnamese citizen, they must be your grandparent, parent, spouse, child or sibling, and must show proof of that relationship.
How to file an extension
- Ask your sponsor to file the request.
- Use form NA5, not the NA6, NA7 or NA8 forms of the residence card procedure. Circular 70/2026/TT-BCA revised NA5, in force from 1 July 2026.
- File in person during office hours on working days at the division. Or file through the National Public Service Portal or the Ministry of Public Security Public Service Portal.
- If the request is filed online, send your passport or international travel document to the receiving office by the public postal service. You may ask for the result to be delivered by post, and you pay the courier fee yourself.
- Pay the government fee of US$10.
The extension is a partly online public service. The official procedure is titled “Gia hạn tạm trú cho người nước ngoài tại Việt Nam (thực hiện tại cấp tỉnh)” and carries procedure code 1.001146 on the national portal. Quote that code if the officer asks which procedure you mean.
Fee, deadline and what you get
- Government fee: US$10.
- Decision: no more than 5 working days from the date a complete dossier is received.
- Refund: none if the applicant does not qualify or refuses to accept the result.
- Result: an extended temporary residence certificate. No maximum extension length is specified on the procedure page.

Residence cards
The service list includes issuing temporary residence cards at provincial police. The card has its own forms and steps, covered in the temporary residence card guide.
Phone numbers: what is confirmed
The Ministry of Public Security support list gives 0694.401249 for the Khanh Hoa Immigration Management Division. That page is dated 11/07/2023, so call before you travel and do not rely on it for hours. The police portal footer lists a different number, (+84).0694.401468, the portal’s general line rather than a counter line.
The national Immigration Department’s e-visa portal publishes its own hotline, 02438257941. That is the e-visa portal’s line, not this division’s. The e-visa line does not reach the Nha Trang counter.
Online portals
For an extension filed online, use the National Public Service Portal or the Ministry of Public Security Public Service Portal. For a new e-visa, the portal addresses are evisa.gov.vn and thithucdientu.gov.vn. Unofficial pages may charge unauthorised fees.
If the request is filed online, you can ask for the result to be delivered by post, and you pay the courier fee.
What goes in the dossier
The extension dossier can be filed in person, online or by post. It includes the foreigner’s passport or other international travel document, one original. The official eligibility conditions are a valid passport, a visa (except in cases of visa exemption), and a temporary residence certification issued by the competent Vietnamese authority.
The fee is collected in dong or US dollars. If you are not eligible or refuse the result, the fee already paid is not refunded. A reissue costs the same as a new issue. The full schedule is in Vietnam immigration fees.

If your sponsor is an organisation
An enterprise sponsor sends the immigration authority a one-time notice before its first invitation. The notice carries a certified copy of its establishment licence or decision, and a document introducing its seal and its signatory.
The request must fit the organisation’s functions or its operating licence. Filing by post or electronically needs an electronic identity account and an electronic signature. The authority has 5 working days to review a visa request from the sponsor.
The entry-approval procedure page for a company sponsor lists two Immigration Department head offices, in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. That is a step before a visa is issued abroad, not a Nha Trang counter service.
Common mix-ups at the counter
- Going to the division to declare an address. The list gives commune-level police as the executing body.
- Using form NA8 for an extension. The extension form is NA5.
- Expecting results on Saturday. Results are returned Monday to Friday.
- Filing the extension yourself. The sponsor files it.
- Filing online and keeping the passport. It must be sent by public postal service.
- Ringing the e-visa hotline for the counter. That line belongs to the e-visa portal.
If you have overstayed
Overstaying is an administrative violation from the first day past the permitted period, even if it is only one day. An overstayer should go promptly to the Immigration Management Office of the police where they stay. There they report, pay the fine and get guidance.
Once a fine decision is issued, the fined person must pay within 10 days of receiving it, unless the decision states a longer deadline. A foreigner with an unpaid fine can be temporarily barred from leaving Vietnam. The fine bands are in the overstay fines guide.
