Bai Dai beach distance, water and water sports prices

The airport operator says Bai Dai is just over 10 minutes from Cam Ranh International Airport.

Swimming conditions

A VinWonders guide says the water at Bai Dai is very shallow, clear and gentle. It adds that the waves are usually gentle, with no deep pits or dangerous strong currents.

That makes the beach easy for children, but the same guide warns about the rainy season. From September to December it lists heavy rain, big waves and high tides that can affect plans.

Water sports and prices

VnExpress said in July 2024 that water sports such as surfing boards, jet skis and parasailing are sold on the beach with no prior registration. A VinWonders guide of 11/07/2025 says some public beach areas or large resorts offer jet skis, parasailing and kayaks.

  • Jet ski: up to VND 800,000 for 30 minutes.
  • Flyboard: VND 600,000 to 4,200,000 for 5 to 15 minutes.

The guide says a jet ski rider must wear a life jacket. It says only swimmers may take part in flyboard. These are operator-guide figures, not a posted price board.

The beach

The draw is the beach itself, a gently sloping shore of fine white sand. A VinWonders guide says the sea is shallow and calm enough for families with young children.

The resort coast

The airport operator calls Bai Dai the new resort capital of northern Khanh Hoa. It says accommodation along the beach sits very close to the sea. VnExpress listed double rooms at resorts on this coast from VND 2 million to 7 million a night in July 2024.

How the resort coast developed

The Bai Dai coast is officially the North Cam Ranh Peninsula tourist area, and the province named it as a way to relieve pressure on Nha Trang. Sai Gon Giai Phong wrote in March 2019 that Khanh Hoa had been courting investors for more than 10 years. It counted 40 investment projects, 29 of them licensed and nearly ten operating.

By the end of June 2022 the area’s management board counted 40 projects with investment certificates: 6 fully operating and 5 partly open. The adjusted master plan for the area west of Nguyen Tat Thanh street was approved in 2020.

In August 2022 the provincial construction department proposed pausing a 1,560 ha sub-zone plan because it overlaps the new Cam Lam urban plan. That plan covers all 54,719 ha of the district.

Nearby islands and sights

The same guide says Bai Dai is close to Dien Son island, Hon Tre and Binh Tien, and to Tu Van pagoda and the Cam Lam mango garden.

How to get to Bai Dai

From Cam Ranh airport

A VinWonders guide says a taxi from the airport to Bai Dai is about 10 km. The airport’s transport page lists a 4-seat Quoc Te taxi from the airport to Nha Trang city at VND 300,000. Grab’s Cam Ranh page gives an average VND 250,000-350,000 from Nha Trang, about 45 minutes.

Those are Nha Trang fares, not Bai Dai fares, so ask the driver for the Bai Dai price first.

A metered ride is the other benchmark. Xanh SM’s Nha Trang tariff opens at VND 29,500 for the first 2 km. It charges VND 18,000 per km up to km 25 and VND 12,500 from km 26. The page says the table is for reference only.

From Nha Trang

The same guide says to head from Nha Trang toward Binh Tan bridge, then along Nguyen Tat Thanh street to Bai Dai. The Khanh Hoa investment agency puts the airport 35 km from the centre of Nha Trang city.

The airport page lists bus route 18 from Nha Trang at VND 50,000 per person, 50 to 60 minutes. It ends at the Cam Lam roundabout, Cong ty 71 and Cam Ranh Airport. It is a route to the airport, not to the beach.

It runs every 30 minutes, 32 trips a day, from 04:30 to 20:55. Fares rise with distance: VND 10,000 for 0-10 km, VND 20,000 for 10-20 km and VND 30,000 for 20-30 km.

VinWonders also lists VinBus route 16-2 from the airport to Vinpearl Nha Trang along Nguyen Tat Thanh street, at VND 50,000 per trip. The Maps listing for Bai Dai is on that street. No source says the bus stops at the beach, so ask the driver.

Add an island or the airport run

On a day with a flight, Bai Dai fits between landing and the transfer into town, because it is 10 km from the airport. For a boat day, see Diep Son Island and Nha Trang island hopping. For the airport run, see Cam Ranh Airport to Nha Trang and Doc Let Beach for the other coast.

Before you go

  • Check the season: January to August is dry, September to December is rainy.
  • Wear a life jacket on a jet ski: the guide says riders must.
  • Ask for the price first: a jet ski at up to VND 800,000 for 30 minutes is a guide figure only.
  • Go early or after 15:30 for the softest light and sun.
  • Confirm the airport fare with the driver: the airport page says to confirm the price.
  • Eat at a restaurant open that day: Ben Thuyen Cau Moi is open daily 10 AM to 11 PM.
