Hours and fees

The Google Maps listing, checked on 12/10/2026, shows no opening hours, phone or website. Entrance and parking fees are not confirmed; see the box above. The listing is rated 4.4, and a second listing for the beach is rated 4.3 as a sandy beach for swimming and sunbathing.

What to see at Doc Let Beach

The beach and dunes

The portal describes clear sea water, tall sand dunes and rows of casuarina trees. VnExpress, on 04/08/2026, says Doc Let is known for fine white sand, clear water and shady coconut palms.

To reach the bathing beach you must climb over long sand dunes, which the portal says explains the name “Doc Let”.

Sources disagree on how hard the climb is today. An undated Znews article says the dunes have eroded over time, so visitors no longer have to drag themselves over tall dunes. The portal text is also undated, so treat the climb as possible rather than certain.

How long the sand runs

Znews (undated) says the beach runs for tens of kilometres in an arc shape. VnExpress, on 13/05/2015, gave a shorter figure: fine flat white sand running almost 10 km, with pine hills behind the shore. Neither source says which stretch is open to the public, so ask locally before you walk far.

Znews also says the sea is gentle all year and visitors can swim without worrying about sudden fierce waves. That is a promotional description, so keep the rip current advice below in mind.

VnExpress describes the shoreline as gently sloping, which suits a summer stay. The same article places Doc Let in Dong Ninh Hoa ward, about 49 km north of central Nha Trang.

What the Google topics show

Google Maps, checked on 13/10/2026, lists these review topics for the beach. The top ones are “beach” (148), “deck chairs” (33), “white sand” (28) and “blue sea” (24).

Smaller ones are “fine sand” (20), “waves” (20), “clean beach” (17) and “calm sea” (15). Last are “fresh water shower” (6) and “shallow entrance to the water” (2). Only five reviews from the last 12 months were readable, so no stronger consensus is claimed here.

Services on the beach

VnExpress, on 13/05/2015, said Doc Let offered jet skis, parasailing, tug of war on the sand and seafood parties at fair prices. That article is old, so confirm what is running on the day.

Is the beach being concreted over?

A 2021 article looks into a rumour that Doc Let beach had been concreted. On 24/11/2021 the chair of Ninh Hai ward gave the answer. He said Doc Let beach is at the start of hamlet 9, Dong Tac. The seawall under construction is at Dong Hai fishing hamlet.

The same article says the seawall project was funded with 88 billion VND from central government funds. The ward chair put the end of the seawall about 2 km from Doc Let beach, and said the design leaves 8 gaps for people to reach the sea.

Swimming safety

NOAA says rip currents do not pull you under; they pull you away from shore. It advises swimming out of one by swimming parallel to the shoreline. The US National Weather Service says great beach weather does not always mean it is safe to swim, because rip currents often form on calm, sunny days.

No source used here lists lifeguards at Doc Let, so treat the water as unsupervised.

Seafood market and visitors

On 31/10/2016, VNAT said Doc Let has a large beautiful beach and a fresh seafood market. The same report said most visitors to the beach were foreigners.

The sunrise fish market

VnExpress says the Ninh Thuy fishing-village fish market at Doc Let lasts only a few hours at sunrise. From 5 AM dozens of boats come ashore after a night of fishing. A photographer quoted there calls about 5:30 to 6:30 the golden hour.

The market has no stalls or signs and is held on the sand. It thins out after 7 AM.

Buying seafood at the market

The fish market began decades ago for locals and traders. In recent years the sunrise market has become a draw for tourists. The seafood is mostly caught overnight in Van Phong Bay.

Fishers sell mackerel, grouper, cobia, shrimp, crab, scallops and squid on the sand. Many visitors find it cheaper than inland markets, but most seafood has no posted price. Ask the price and bargain before you buy.

Many visitors buy seafood to take home, or ask nearby eateries to cook it on the spot.

  • Skip it if you need confirmed hours: no hours are listed.

By car or motorbike

VnExpress says visitors can reach the market by motorbike or car, and there is a car park near where the market is held. For a sunrise visit, VnExpress suggests staying in a coastal homestay so you can walk to the market early in the morning.

By taxi

Xanh SM listed, on 12/02/2025, an opening fare of 29,500 VND for the first 2 km.

It then charged 18,000 VND per km up to km 12 and 18,000 VND per km up to km 25. From km 26 onwards it charged 12,500 VND per km. The page says the table is for reference only and may change. The distance to Doc Let is 49 km, so the long-distance tariff applies.

True Friends Easy Rider’s website, checked on 12/10/2026, lists a Yamaha Grande 125cc from 130,000 VND per day. It lists a SYM Priti automatic 50cc from 150,000 VND per day. A Honda PCX 150cc and a NVX 155cc are each listed from 250,000 VND per day. The pages carry no date, so confirm rates when you book.

Nearby and how to combine it

Doc Let is far from the city sights. For a city day, see Nha Trang city itinerary. For another trip out of town, see Yang Bay Waterfall. Both have their own guides.

VnExpress names Hon Heo peninsula, Hon Khoi salt fields and Truong Xuan hot springs as stops to combine with the fish market. It says they are not far apart and suit a trip of one to two days.
