Nha Trang Address Now: Old Ward to New Ward (2026)

District-level government ended on 1 July 2025, so a Nha Trang address now runs house number, street, ward, province. Four wards cover the city: Nha Trang, Bac Nha Trang, Tay Nha Trang and Nam Nha Trang. Ninh Thuan province merged into Khanh Hoa.

A pre-merger Nha Trang address reads “11 Ly Thanh Ton, Van Thanh Ward, Nha Trang City, Khanh Hoa”. Van Thanh Ward is now part of Nha Trang Ward, and the city level above it no longer has a government. A current address reads “19 Yersin, Nha Trang Ward, Khanh Hoa”.

How to write a Nha Trang address now

1. Drop the district. District-level government ended on 1 July 2025.
2. Write the ward. Wards, communes and special zones sit directly under the province, and Nha Trang has four wards.
3. Match your old ward to its new ward in the list below. For example, Van Thanh is now inside Nha Trang Ward.
4. Add the alley part if you have one. A ngo with no name takes the number of the street-front house just before its head.
5. Finish with the province, Khanh Hoa, and check the postal code at mabuuchinh.vn.

What changed on 1 July 2025

Vietnam now has two levels of administrative unit: the province or centrally run city, and below it the commune, ward or special zone. A ward is an urban unit, a commune is a rural one, and a special zone sits on certain important islands.

Resolution 202/2025/QH15 merged the whole natural area and population of Ninh Thuan province and Khanh Hoa province into a new province named Khanh Hoa. The local governments formed by the mergers were to officially operate from 1 July 2025.

After the commune-level rearrangement Khanh Hoa has 65 units: 48 communes, 16 wards and 1 special zone. The new commune-level governments start operating from 1 July 2025.

The four Nha Trang wards: old to new

Resolution 1667/NQ-UBTVQH15 of 16 June 2025 merged the old wards and communes into four wards. Find your old ward below; the new ward is in bold.

• Nha Trang Ward (phuong Nha Trang) merges the old wards Van Thanh, Loc Tho, Vinh Nguyen, Tan Tien and Phuoc Hoa.
• Bac Nha Trang Ward merges the old wards Vinh Hoa, Vinh Hai, Vinh Phuoc and Vinh Tho with the communes Vinh Luong and Vinh Phuong.
• Tay Nha Trang Ward merges the old wards Ngoc Hiep and Phuong Sai with the communes Vinh Ngoc, Vinh Thanh, Vinh Hiep and Vinh Trung.
• Nam Nha Trang Ward merges the old wards Phuoc Hai, Phuoc Long and Vinh Truong with the communes Vinh Thai and Phuoc Dong.

Cam Ranh wards and the airport area

Cam Ranh, where the airport sits, was reorganised in the same resolution into four wards. Match your old ward to the new one in the table.

Look up an old address

Vietnam Post built a lookup tool at diachi.vnpost.vn so mail handling is not interrupted after the mergers. It converts in two directions, from a new address to the old one and from an old address to the new one. You pick the province, then the ward or commune, and can add a street name.

Use it when a landlord, a bank form or an old document gives the pre-merger address. Compare the result with the four-ward table above before you copy it into a form.

An address before and after

Businesses are still mixing the two forms. A Nha Trang branch address on a property site reads “Phuong Van Thanh, TP Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa”. A Khanh Hoa tourism page places Dam Market in Van Thanh Ward, Nha Trang City. A rental shop’s own site still lists Loc Tho, an old ward, after its street.

Property listings now show both names side by side:

• “P. Lộc Thọ (P. Nha Trang mới)”;
• “P. Vĩnh Phước (P. Bắc Nha Trang mới)”;
• “X. Vĩnh Hiệp (P. Tây Nha Trang mới)”.

These match the merger lists above.

The current form drops the district and city. Khanh Hoa General Hospital writes “19 Yersin, Nha Trang Ward, Khanh Hoa”. VIETMOTO writes “74 Tran Nguyen Han, Nha Trang Ward, Khanh Hoa Province”. Vinmec writes “Tran Phu Street, Neighborhood Group 1, Tay Son, Nha Trang Ward, Khanh Hoa Province”.

Alleys and house numbers

Alley terms come from the Ministry of Construction’s house-numbering circular, which took effect on 15 October 2024. A ngo (kiet) opens onto a road or street at one end at least. A ngach (hem) opens onto a ngo, not directly onto a road or street.

Houses on a road or street take natural numbers from small to large, with odd numbers on the left and even numbers on the right. Direction runs north to south, east to west, north-east to south-west and south-east to north-west.

A new house between houses 20 and 22 can be numbered 20A, 20B, 20C and so on. The other option is 20-1, 20-2, 20-3 and so on.

An unnamed ngo takes the number of the street-front house just before its head, the house with the smaller number. An unnamed ngach does the same with the ngo-front house just before its head. House numbering is to match the address in the file for a land-use and house-ownership certificate.

Here is how that looks in Nha Trang. San Ho Viet writes its address as “No. 42, alley 44, Biet Thu Street, Nha Trang Ward”. Google Maps lists the same shop as “44/42 Biet Thu”. The ngo naming rule matches that pattern, but no source states that “44/42” means alley 44, house 42.

Like Bike gives two addresses. Google Maps lists 51/19/8 Tue Tinh, and its own site lists 51/13/14 Tue Tinh, Loc Tho. When two sources disagree, show the driver both and confirm on the pin.

The Ministry of Construction said on 13 February 2026 that it issued a consolidated text of the circular. The alley definitions and numbering rules quoted here come from the Official Gazette text of 2024.

Postal codes

On 24 August 2025 the Ministry of Science and Technology issued Decision 2334/QĐ-BKHCN, amending the national postal codes for wards and communes. People can look up the postal code of each locality at mabuuchinh.vn.

The annex lists the four Nha Trang wards at rows 30 to 33 of its Khanh Hoa section. The four Cam Ranh wards follow at rows 34 to 37, with the codes shown in the Cam Ranh table above. Write the code that matches the new ward in the address, and check it at mabuuchinh.vn.

What to write for Grab, delivery and paperwork

No official source found tells you how Grab or delivery apps match ward names. What the sources do show: the district no longer exists as a government level, and businesses write street, ward and province. Write the street, the ward and Khanh Hoa, and add the alley part last.

For a driver, give the house number, the street name and the new ward, then send the map pin. Where a business page and Google Maps differ, as in the Like Bike case, quote both.

For papers, write the address as the paper itself writes it, and ask the office that issued it. Papers issued before the reorganisation that have not expired continue to be used until they expire or are replaced. Individuals cannot be required to exchange such papers while they have not expired, unless the law says otherwise.

Residence declaration and identity papers

A foreigner declares temporary residence through the person who runs the accommodation, to the commune, ward or special-zone police, or a police post or station, where it is located. The accommodation asks you to show your passport and residence-related papers first. The full steps are in temporary residence registration in Nha Trang.

When boundaries, unit names, street names, house-numbering or number schemes are adjusted, the residence registration authority adjusts and updates the citizen’s residence information in the residence database. A Vietnamese citizen who wants to exchange an identity card because of a boundary change contacts the commune-level police or the provincial identity-card office where they live.
