TDTU Khanh Hoa campus — the classroom course in Nha Trang

TDTU runs a Vietnamese language program for foreigners at its Nha Trang campus. It is open to all foreigners living, working or studying in Vietnam. Courses last 4-8 weeks, with morning or afternoon classes from Monday to Friday, taught in person. A Certificate of Completion follows.

The first course for foreigners opened at the Khanh Hoa campus on 13 April, with 11 learners from Russia, Ukraine, the United States and South Korea. TDTU says courses will run regularly on a monthly basis.

Good for

  • Learners who want a classroom and a certificate: the course ends with a Certificate of Completion.
  • Anyone living in Nha Trang: classes are in person at the campus.
  • A structured path: the curriculum follows the 6-level Vietnamese Language Proficiency Framework for foreigners.
  • Meeting other learners: the program mixes nationalities.

Skip if

  • You need a fee for the Nha Trang campus before you travel: the published tables name no campus.
  • You want evening classes at the campus: the Nha Trang page lists morning or afternoon only.

What the course covers

TDTU says the curriculum is built on the 6-level framework, for levels from beginner to advanced. Teachers hold university degrees or higher in Vietnamese language, culture and society.

The center’s main textbooks are VSL 1, 2, 3 and 4. A placement test is required from Elementary 2 upwards, and students take mid-term and final tests.

Extracurricular activities include cooking classes, sightseeing tours and cultural exchange with Vietnamese students.

Published course table and fees

TDTU’s Center for Vietnamese Studies and Language posts a table for each course. Course K2616 starts on 7 September 2026, with on-campus classes 5 times a week and 80 class hours. Course K2619 starts on 19 October 2026, with a registration deadline of 16 October 2026.

Level Class time Tuition
Elementary VSL1 (lessons 1-6) 8:15am-11:55am VND 7,000,000
Elementary VSL1 (lessons 1-6) 6:30pm-8:05pm VND 7,700,000
Intermediate VSL3 (lessons 1-5) 1:00pm-2:50pm VND 7,800,000

The table runs in blocks. Elementary is split into VSL1 and VSL2, each in two blocks of lessons 1-6 and 7-12. Intermediate is split into VSL3 and VSL4, each in two blocks of lessons 1-5 and 6-10. Elementary blocks end on 5 October 2026, and Intermediate blocks on 2 November 2026.

These tables carry no campus name, and the center’s own footer gives a Ho Chi Minh City address: Building E, room E009, 19 Nguyen Huu Tho Street, Tan Hung Ward. Treat the fees as TDTU’s published course fees, not as the Nha Trang price. Ask the Khanh Hoa campus for its own figure.

How often courses start

TDTU’s Courses page lists a new Vietnamese language course notice almost every month in 2026. K2607 was posted on 26 March, K2608 on 15 April and K2609 on 11 May. K2613 followed on 3 July, K2614 on 30 July, K2616 on 25 August and K2619 on 12 October.

The page names no campus, so the rhythm is the center’s, not necessarily the Nha Trang campus’s. TDTU says the Khanh Hoa campus runs courses regularly on a monthly basis.

Refunds and textbooks

Tuition is not refunded or changed once the class opens. If the class does not open, TDTU refunds 100%. Teaching is in Vietnamese and English only, and fees do not include textbooks.

Tieng Viet Oi — one-on-one and private groups

Tieng Viet Oi describes face-to-face and online classes. One-on-one means one student, with schedule and location set by individual needs.

One-on-one fees are VND 390,000 an hour on plans under 15 hours. A 15-hour package is VND 5,400,000, or VND 360,000 an hour, and a 30-hour package is VND 10,200,000, or VND 340,000 an hour. Both packages include a free coursebook.

Tuition is prepaid after the first lesson to reserve the teacher’s schedule, and lesson-by-lesson payment is not available.

A private group takes 2-5 students, and a 30-hour course with coursebooks is VND 6,450,000 per person. Its fixed-schedule group classes of 3-7 students meet at its Hanoi office, so they do not suit a learner in Nha Trang.

Group course prices at the Hanoi office

Tieng Viet Oi says its classes are available in Hanoi, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City. Nha Trang is not on that list. Its group classes are priced per person with a free textbook.

Level Hours Price per person
Beginner 36 VND 6,480,000
Elementary 48 VND 8,640,000
Intermediate 57 VND 10,260,000
Upper Intermediate 63 VND 11,340,000

  • A coursebook in the price: both packages include a free coursebook.
  • Friends who learn together: a private group takes 2-5 students.

Skip if

  • You want pay-as-you-go: payment is prepaid and lesson-by-lesson payment is not available.
  • You want a fixed-schedule group in your city: its TVO group classes are in Hanoi.

Preply and italki — tutors by the hour

Preply says its Vietnamese tutors charge between $3 and $75 an hour, with an average of $13 an hour. Its tutor page counts 799 Vietnamese teachers and filters lessons from $3 to $40+.

italki’s Vietnamese page counts 75 tutors. Trial lesson prices on its first page of cards run from USD 5.00 to USD 17.00, and one card shows USD 25.00 an hour. Each card labels the tutor a Community Tutor or a Professional Teacher, with a trial price and a Book trial button.

Both are marketplaces: each tutor sets a price, so the range is wide. Prices here are listing-wide, not Nha Trang rates, and the cards do not state lesson length.

Use the trial lesson to compare tutors. Each italki card shows a trial price and a Book trial button. Preply’s price filter narrows its 799 Vietnamese teachers, with prices from $3 to $40+ per lesson. Book two or three trials in one week and keep the tutor you follow best.

Good for

  • Short trials before you commit to a pack: trial prices start at USD 5.00 on italki.
  • Flexible hours: lessons are online.

Skip if

  • You want a classroom or a certificate: these are one-to-one tutor lessons.
